Follow new updates and improvements to Padlet Arcade.

You can now lock any game to prevent players from playing. A small lock icon next to the game title toggles it on and off instantly. When a game is locked, the play button is replaced with a "Locked" message and no one can begin playing. Pair it with Live Activity to wait until every student has joined before unlocking, or lock a game after class to close it to new plays. Unlock anytime with one click.

Did you know you can export many of our games as PDFs to use as worksheets in the classroom? Take an existing game like a crossword or word search, click “Share” > “Export” > “Export to PDF” to get a downloadable and printable version of your game.

PDFs are not available for memory tile and flashcard games at the moment. Every other game type is supported.

Improved

Say hello to Piper 2, our upgraded game generator and a big improvement in the quality and accuracy of games created on Arcade. Read the full story behind it on our blog.

  • Answers you can trust. Before a game reaches you, Piper checks its own work and fixes correctness or fidelity issues, so answers are right and the game matches what you asked for.

  • Better images. A dedicated image engine picks accurate visuals, including tricky structured ones like an analog clock at 8:27 or a simple circuit with a switch.

  • Grounded in real facts. When a topic calls for it, Piper searches the web so games about current events, recent discoveries, or niche specifics (think state civics or species-level science) come out topical and accurate. For broad, well-established topics like the water cycle, it skips the search and builds right away.

Just enter your topic and build like always. All the quality work happens behind the scenes.

New

Exploring our community library of games? Open any community game and the new info panel lays out everything you need to decide if it’s right for your class: grade level, subject, estimated play time, item count, and a description.

You’ll also see how many teachers have played, saved, and copied it, so you can trust what’s working. Found a keeper? Hit “Create a copy” to get your own editable version with a fresh leaderboard for your students.

Another new game! Crossword joins word search in Arcade’s growing list of game types.

Describe a topic or upload a file, pick crossword, and Arcade builds a custom puzzle in seconds. Every clue can have audio and images too, which makes the game friendlier for early readers and language learners. Clues don't have to be straight definitions either, so feel free to get sneaky. Write them as riddles, quotes from a character, or hints that point at the answer.

Happy puzzling!

New

Word search is now available in Arcade!

Describe a topic or upload a file, pick word search, and Arcade builds a custom puzzle in seconds. Refine the clues and words using the editor then share it with your friends or students.

The clues in the word search don’t always have to match the word, so you can come up with some fun twists on the game. For example you could make the clue a population number then the player has to figure out which country it is and find it in the grid.

You can now manually edit your games after they’ve been generated! This was our most requested feature by far.

The game editor is perfect for fixing the small stuff our game generator didn't get quite right. You can go into each question, answer, card, or tile and adjust the content as needed. The edits show up in real time in the game.

In addition to editing text in the games, you can search for images and generate audio. Soon you’ll be able to upload your own images and audio as well.

You'll find the game editor in the content tab of the new edit panel, right next to chat-to-edit and settings.

More info about how to edit games can be found here.

You can now see who's playing your game in real time! Go to settings and toggle on “Live Activity” to show a side panel with players grouped by status: Joined, Playing, and Finished. Each player gets a live status badge so you always know who's engaged and who might need a nudge.

Share your Arcade games to more places, more easily.

You can now share directly to Padlet, Google Classroom, Teams, WhatsApp, and more from the new share panel.

QR code sharing also got an upgrade - download the QR code as a PDF, print it, or go fullscreen for easy scanning.

You can now limit your leaderboard to only show the top 3, 5, or 10 scores. Simply go into settings and configure “Number of scores shown” to your preference. Scores aren’t deleted, they’re just hidden so you can always change this later.
